It seems that since the hospital stay our life has been one new drama after another. Maddie healed up very nicely with her antibiortics, but after one and a half healthy weeks she was sick again. She woke up in the middle of the night Friday morning making some raspy breathing sounds. By Saturday she was wheezing and barking like a seal. I think she had RSV or something like it, but we managed to not go to the doctor. She is on the mend, but still coughs and sneezes like crazy. We're keeping her home one more day, and hopefully, she'll be back to daycare on Wednesday.
Today I was working in the backyard, while my back was turned Maddie climed up a step. I turned around and said, "Maddie, get down." As I stepped toward her, she spun around too quickly, her larger than average head threw her off balance, and she flew down onto a concrete paver. She screamed; I felt sick. It was awful. She made it out with a large, bruised bump and a scrape all over her face. For the love of everything!
On to my other drama. Jezz wasn't looking so good, so I took her back into the vet. They said the lump in her neck was a lymph node (I'm noticing a pattern!) and her eye was a mess. Some kind of infection basically ate through her eye. Sooooooo, they injected some kind of slow release antibiotic into it and sewed it shut. I'll take her back on Thursday to see what happens. Either it will heal (not likely), shrivel up like a raisin, or have to be removed. All around......gross.
I'm exhausted by the non-stop illness at this point. Steve keeps talking about baby #2 and I jokingly say I don't have enough sick days for another baby. I am ready for the summer to get here so we can all get healthy and relax. People I don't even know are starting to tell me that I look tired. I guess my concealing eye-brightener isn't cutting it! I'll update my pictures soon.
