Somewhere between Charlie's arrival and trying to return to a normal life, Madeleine Rose turned two. It is next to impossible for her father and I to believe that much time has passed since we welcomed our little girl. She has been a bundle of non-stop energy since her first movement and she knows how to keep us on her toes with her sass. Every day she seems to learn 10 new things. It is amazing and a blessing to watch her grow. As often as we butt heads, I sure love that girl (and I know her dad does, too).
We held a very small and simple birthday party for her the day before her birthday. My grandma brought a cake, my mom made BBQ, and Stephen called Pizza Hut...I did next to nothing, but I imagine that will be the last time I get away with that! Poor Maddie came down with some kind of cold the day of her party, but the fever didn't show up until it was too late to cancel. She managed to pull through and did better than I expected considering how miserable she felt. She was very into her present opening and she made out like a bandit. I think the biggest hit was her Barbie Jeep, which she refers to as her 'twuck'. Sadly, the unseasonably warm weather we had been having has disappeared and she only got to try out her new ride in our unfurnished library. I think she will have a blast cruising around the yard this summer. She didn't quite figure out the pedals, but her older cousin Lucy knew just what to do. I loved the pictures Jim took of them, mostly because it was the only time during the day that she looked even close to having a good time.
This was actually a couple of days before her birthday, but she knows how to work it!
William and Lucy
Chocolate cake did bring a smile to her face....I can't say I blame her.
These pictures are so cute. They had a lot of fun even though they were working in a 12X12 foot space.
Here she is on her actual birthday. Isn't that a pathetic face? We took her to get some doughnuts for breakfast....her current favorite. She asked to wear her monkey pajamas and watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while snuggling with mom all day. She got her wishes!
