Indy Zoo

In deep contemplation over the flingos and lemurs.

Making elephant noises with dad

Checking out the fish...which she LOVES! We need to head to an aquarium again.

She wanted to pet a snake....I'm not kidding. She brought it up herself. She had to settle for petting a shark.

One of the two rules of the splash park was 'no running'. Some rules are just made to be broken!

Maddie has been dying to go to the zoo. Every time I ask her if she wants to go somewhere, say the store, she says, "No, I wanna see the zebwas, flingos, raffes, ewephants, ....." She can go on forever. So, Steve and I decided to take Maddie to the zoo. Usually we go to St. Louis Zoo, but this time we were going to be leaving Charlie at my mom's which meant it just made more sense to head to Indianapolis. I had heard good things about their zoo other than the fact that it isn't free like STL. After a fairly intense tantrum when she realized Charlie wasn't in the car with us and she told us to turn around and go home, she seemed to have a blast. The only animal she wanted to see that we didn't see was the zebra. They must have been hiding out. She LOVED the brown bear (just like her book) and the tigers. After a very hot day spent at the zoo we treated ourselves to popsicles and then cooled off in their splash park. Maddie had a lot of fun once she decided that it was okay to play there. For as brazen as she is at home, she is equally shy when she is in a new place around new people. It was a good day for all of us and I think we'll try to hit the St. Louis Zoo before summer's end.
