I am sitting here in my recliner on a Friday morning doing whatever it is I want, because this is my second snow day. YEAH!?!? I am not one to enjoy snow days because I know that enevitabaly I'll be in school longer. I would much rather be stuck in the classroom in this kind of weather than when it is sunny and 70 degrees. But as my mother reminded me last night, most people have to go to work snow/summer or not. Fine, fine. So, today I am going to revel in doing nothing, well as much nothing as I ever do. Yesterday, the trim repainting continued and I cooked up a storm. Today, the plan is to clean the house, so I have less to do this weekend.
Maddie is not enjoying her first snow days, because I didn't tell her they were happening. I took her to daycare both days. I can get things done and she gets to play with her friends. I think we both end up happier. Yesterday, her teachers said she was sitting in the floor laughting hysterically at nothing. Sounds pretty happy to me!
Madeleine is growing and changing as fast as ever. She has advanced from walking a few feet between people to walking across the room to get something she wants. When she loses her balance, she immediately gets back up on her feet and takes off again. Her talking is also advancing, at least to the point of doing a lot of conversation babble. She most definitely said her first word.....MAMA! She will call me mama, or if she gets upset or mad she will scream mamamamama. In all of her noise making she says some word-like things. Steve is pretty sure she said 'Jesus' the other night. I think she said some curse words this morning. At least she is making up for the bad words with some good words, right?
Here is a random collection of shots from our Christmas break, her 10-month picture, and the last few days. She is playing peek-a-boo with Steve over the arm of the couch, chasing her favorite ball, putting everything in her mouth, laying on the floor kicking her feet in the air, making funny noises with her tongue, and just generally being silly.
